\u00a0Working hand-in-hand (forgive me) are<a href=\"http:\/\/enablingthefuture.org\/\">\u00a0e-Nabling the Future<\/a>\u00a0(represented by <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/opensource.com\/life\/14\/3\/interview-jen-owen-enable\">Jen Owen<\/a><\/strong> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=peoZJRtnPiA&amp;feature=youtu.be\"><strong>Ivan Owen<\/strong><\/a>)\u00a0and our Guest of Honor (GoH) <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/profile\/view?id=314832153&amp;authType=name&amp;authToken=xcBG&amp;trk=mirror-profile-memberlist-name\">Albert Manero<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #fff;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>e-Nable the Future<\/strong> matches volunteers with individuals in need to make low cost 3D printed prosthetics for as low as $50 per hand.\u00a0 What started as a collaborative project for one child has become a world-wide maker movement (with over 500 members) utilizing the open source tech philosophy.<\/p>\n<p>e-Nable hopes to show the Penguicon community how their\u00a0knowledge and passion, combined with open source technologies, can help change the world.<\/p>\n<p>e-Nabling the Future is hosting their first <a href=\"http:\/\/enablingthefuture.org\/prosthetists-meet-3d-printers-press-release\/\">conference<\/a> at <strong>John Hopkins Hospital<\/strong> on <strong>September 28, 2014<\/strong>.\u00a0 The conference will unveil the e-Nable 2.0 hand, the worlds first <em>crowd-sourced, crowd developed prosthetic<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #fff;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Our Guest of Honor, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/profile\/view?id=314832153&amp;authType=name&amp;authToken=xcBG&amp;trk=mirror-profile-memberlist-name\">Albert Manero<\/a><\/strong>, signed up to be a volunteer with e-Nabling the Future and was quickly matched up with a six-year old boy in his local area.\u00a0 He gathered a team of friends and printed a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mae.ucf.edu\/tag\/albert-manero\/\">myoelectric arm<\/a> that runs off of servos and batteries that are actuated by muscle energy &#8211; <em>the child flexes his bicep to squeeze the arm.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Albert and his team are excited to show the Penguicon community examples of the prosthetics they are working on that react to muscle movement for control.<\/p>\n<p>Albert is currently a Fulbright Scholar at University of Central Florida where he is pursuing his Doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are very excited to announce both a Guest of Honor and our 2015 Hack of Honor!
